Who am I?

I'm the itinerant son of a New Zealand fruit growing family. I'm a self employed mechanical engineer living in the South Island of New Zealand.   I run my own engineering consultancy www.engen.co.nz and a mountainbike suspension business www.shockcraft.co.nz

Interests
I'm a keen mountainbiker and skiier. I don't get out as often as I'd like to, but I'm still keen.
For these reasons I choose to live and work in more remote locations, cities just don't do it for me.

I love nature and the outdoors. Since we were very young my brother and me took to the hills, canyoning, climbing, fighting our way up rivers for kilometers on end.
I still love the mountains, biking, tramping and skiing in them whenever possible.
I have great respect for nature, the power and beauty that it has. We are not permanent here, we are only here as long as nature provides a climate conducive to our survival. Or until by our own hand we make this world unlivable.

Philosophy

Sometimes one line can make a view so clear:

  • No guts, no glory
  • Eagles soar but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
  • Fun is anything which you don't have to do.
  • He who dies with the most toys wins.
  • Vegetarians don't live longer, it just feels like longer.
  • The hardest road is often the fastest.
  • I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it!
  • Humpty was pushed.
  • If you drink then spade, You're a bloody idiot.
  • Somedays you're the dog, somedays you're the hydrant.
  • Stupidity is always optional, fun is compulsory.
